Prop 102

As most of you know Prop 102 is about marriage. I have heard many different arguments on why to vote yes, no and not vote at all. First off, we should be grateful that we have the chance to vote and use this ability to influence our country for good. I think many have forgotten who runs this country, WE THE PEOPLE DO! Unfortunately many government officials think they have the power to do as they want and make many laws we don't agree with, and we allow it because we don't stand up for what we believe. I think we need to have a more active role in the way our country is run by letting those that are elected know we disapprove and by not re-electing them. What power for good we could be if we all stood up and said "this is how we want it to be." Anyway enough about that I could go on for hours but my point is I'm tired of sitting and watching our country be ripped apart and ideally standing by and watching it destroy its self. If the day comes as it did with the Nephites that the people desire wickedness than so be it but I won't be one of them. Let's stand up and fight for our beliefs and standards. Back to prop 102, I am obviously for it because it is the very purpose of the plan of salvation and central to the doctrines of Christ’s teachings. "Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of GOD and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children." "The family is ordained of GOD. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan." "We warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets." "We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society, (The Family Proclamation).” Prophets and apostles have warned and laid out these simple truths and now we have the responsibility to uphold those standards set by the Lord. The proclamation was written 13 years ago and yet here we are with the decision to stand for what is right. What destruction will happen if this is not passed. If we do not pass this law gay-marriage may be passed and then the church will not be able to perform marriages in the temple, yes they will be able to seal there but not to marry. Also the church's adoption program will be terminated and also many other Churches will not be able to do these things because of their beliefs. They will have to discontinue this because if a gay couple wants to get married by a bishop or wants to adopt a baby and the church doesn't allow them because of our beliefs then they will be sued for discrimination. Now if you ask me that is giving the government power to regulate our religious beliefs which is contrary to the 1st amendment of the constitution. So if you believe what the dumb ads on TV are saying, that the government has no right to make laws about marriage then think again, the government is not deciding on this we are. This is just another subtle way Satan is trying to destroy the family and ruin the lives of others and deceive people so they cannot have exaltation. It is our duty then as members of the true church of Christ and as citizens of this nation to uphold those standards and laws the Lord has made. We cannot make people believe as we do but we will be accountable for those things we have done or not done. I hope that all of us will take a more active role in helping the Lord’s work go forth whether it is in the church or out of the church. Whatever happens “no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing.” Then the only question we have to ask ourselves is, who’s side am I on? Please VOTE YES for Prop 102.
